Overview:

Aafia Siddiqui is a Pakistani citizen and U.S.-educated neuroscientist who allegedly belonged to an al-Qaeda cellular in Pakistan. She is currently serving an 86-year sentence in U.S. Federal jail for assaulting U.S. Federal marketers, personnel, and nationals at some stage in a 2008 interrogation in Afghanistan.* The Pakistani government has lobbied for her release while al-Qaeda and different extremist businesses have repeatedly demanded Siddiqui’s release in change for hostages.

Born in Pakistan in 1972, Siddiqui moved to america in 1990 on a pupil visa. She attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and then Brandeis University, incomes a PhD in neuroscience.* Siddiqui’s radicalization started even as she changed into reading in Massachusetts, which coincided with the Bosnian civil battle. During her sophomore year, Siddiqui won a $5,000 grant for a studies undertaking on “Islamization in Pakistan and its Effects on Women.” She in brief returned to Pakistan to conduct research.
